First time visitors and we left satisfied. I somehow walked past Marmo a couple times without noticing it in the past and it wasn't until I saw an Instagram post about their happy hour that it was on my radar. But it looks like we couldn't wait for happy hour because we stopped by on Sunday for a very late dinner. The doors opened and we were greeted with some lovely jazzy piano music. The ambiance is a nice blend of modern and cozy with Edison style bulbs and marble counters mixed with warm rattan pendant lights and draped curtains. We had a nice table for two along the window curve. My lone gripe was that the restroom, gender neutral, was not clean but I'll blame that on whoever was in there before me. We loved our server Andre. He knew the menu forwards and backwards and provided exceptional service. I didn't realize Marmo was part of a Baltimore based restaurant group called Atlas, and their sister restaurants in Houston are Loch Bar and Azumi. We've tried Loch Bar but we'll have to put Azumi on the list! For drinks, we ordered a glass of cabernet and a cantare cocktail with a bottle of sparkling water. I was expecting the cantare's cantaloupe and honey to make it sweeter than it was, but it tasted more like a standard margarita and was served in a salt rimmed glass. Andre started us with squares of focaccia with a crumbled cheese before we decided on a half order of both spaghetti and squid ink campanelle as well as scallops and an off menu 6 oz skirt steak. The steak option we originally wanted was not available and I noticed that it isn't listed on the online menus either, although interestingly there is an 8 oz wagyu skirt steak on the online menu that is a lower price point than the 6 oz. Now onto what we're all here for: Blue crab squid ink campanelle with uni cream sauce ($28 half order)- 10/10. Elevated comfort food in the best way. The campanelle was fresh and perfectly al dente. The uni sauce was creamy and had the right amount of chili to give it a kick. The sprouts and toasted breadcrumbs on top provided some needed colors and texture respectively. I was surprised by the generous amount of blue crab meat and the half order was a substantial enough portion for one person. It was an excellent recommendation from Andre and our favorite dish! Spaghetti alla chitarra ($10 half order)- 7/10. The spaghetti had good texture and the flavors were simple and clean. It was a nice counter balance to the more complex flavor profile of the campanelle. Scallops with 'nduja, watermelon relish, corn puree, and semolina cracker ($42)- 9/10. There wasn't a sear on the scallops but they were tender and plentiful with four decently sized scallops in total. The overall taste of the dish was refreshingly sweet and slightly savory and salty. The watermelon relish and corn puree added sweetness and very nice variations in texture. I couldn't tell you with certainty where the 'nduja pork sausage was in the dish but I'm guessing it was in the spread under the scallops. Regardless, it didn't have a strong flavor and let the scallops be the main attraction. Does anyone remember the scene in Ratatouille when the critic takes a bite of ratatouille and is instantly transported to a memory of a different place? These scallops did that for me. It would've been a 10 if they had a sear. 6 oz mystery skirt steak (~$55)- 6/10. Our mystery meat was our least favorite dish of the night. It had nice marbling and was served a la carte save for a roasted garlic bulb and half lemon. It was by no means bad, but the campanelle set a high bar, and we ultimately thought the skirt steak was underwhelming for the price point. I absolutely would come back to Marmo for dinner. The only question would be whether I'm ordering the campenelle and scallops again or branching out to try something new. According to Andre, the menu rotates some of its offerings seasonally so I'll be on the lookout at my next visit!

This place is amazing!!! My friend and I met up at Sophie across the road but wanted something more filling. We walked over to Marmo and it did not disappoint. The food is delicious and service is top notch.

As a native New Yorker, desperately looking for Italian food in what seems to be an Italian food desert... I have found my oasis. This place not only hits the mark but goes above and beyond in terms of service. Every time I have been here the food and service are consistently excellent. Finally a place where I can go to feel at home in Houston. Cannot recommend this enough.

Decided to give Marmo a try for HRW. The restaurant is nestled in a shopping plaza so a nice way to window shop either before or after your meal. We sat outside which was a nice e change and the staff are nice and accommodating. We decided to go with the HRW menu with starters of the Tuscan fried chicken with aioli and tuna cannolis. The chicken was seasoned well and crispy. I felt that the tuna cannoli was an interesting twist but not one I was a huge fan of. The tuna was quite chewy without much flavor and was quite a different texture from the crispy cannoli. For our main dishes, we ordered the flat iron consisting of steak and broccolini which was cooked nicely. We also ordered the bolognese that had decent pieces of ground meat garnished on top with a creamy sauce that was overbearing for me. Lastly, we ordered tirimisu and the lemon cake for dessert. The dessert portions were quite large, but the tirimisu had a stronger rum taste than what I preferred. The lemon cake was tangy and not too sweet with a pairing of sorbet on top. Overall, a nice dinner experience and glad to have tried different types of dishes and loved the environment of the restaurant.

Loved the food, generous portion sizes. I've always hated how large the portions are at most restaurants in America so I really appreciated they offered a 1/2 portion size for the pasta. The pannacotta was delicious but the olive oil was an overkill. Ambiance is pretty. And the service was excellent!!! Definitely worth a shot. It's pretty pricey but I knew that going in. It won't be my go-to restaurant if I'm craving Italian food, but I wouldn't mind going back again.

Hrw dinner menu. We tried all of the appetizers that were on the HRW menu. The fried chicken was basic but well done 4/5. The burrata with the plums was delicious 5/5. The meatballs were fine. 3/5. The tuna cannoli was delicious...it is actually pretty spicy but paired perfectly with the frisse 5/5. Lamb neck entree was pretty salty. One of our guests went theirs back and one powered through. The flavors itself were nice but the salt needs to be adjusted. 3/5. The red fish was delicious. I liked the char on the fish but some of the more charred parts tasted bitter. 4/5. Chicken parm was well done and the spaghetti was al dente. 5/5 Replacement steak was good. 5/5. The desserts were good. The tiramisu was a favorite. I loved the panna cotta. The other dessert was good too. 4.5/5. Service was nice. They replaced one of the too salty dishes. Food service was slow though. Would go back to try other dishes. I like that the piano player wasn't too loud. His playing was wonderful and so was his singing and so it was a nice foil to dinner. Could hear the music well but still converse with people.

Marmo is a standout Italian restaurant that offers a dining experience as inviting as it is refined. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between comfort and sophistication, with warm lighting that sets a cozy, upscale tone from the moment you walk in. Choosing what to order can be a delightful challenge--everything on the menu looks so enticing that you might find yourself torn between several dishes. Fortunately, the helpful and knowledgeable servers are there to guide you, offering recommendations that are always spot on. The food and drinks are truly top-notch. The bartenders are incredibly talented, crafting drinks that complement the meal perfectly. Every dish we tried was a testament to the kitchen's skill and passion for Italian cuisine. Just be sure to save room for dessert; it's the perfect way to end a meal here. Parking is convenient, with both valet and street options available, adding to the seamless experience. Whether you're planning a special night out or just craving excellent Italian food in a beautiful setting, Marmo is a must-visit.

Finally came back for a second visit and Marmo was just as good as I remembered! The atmosphere in the restaurant is so nice, with live piano music and the friendliest staff around. We were a large party and our servers took such great care of us, always checking in to make sure the meal was going perfectly. I said it in my last review and I'll say it again, any restaurant with complimentary bread and cheese is a star in my book haha My roommate and I went halfsies on a couple of appetizers and three of the half orders of pasta. Everything was amaaaaazing, we left stuffed and with a box of leftovers in hand! I genuinely can't pick a favorite because everything tasted so incredible, so I will just recommend every dish we got: polpette - meatballs, Tuscan fried chicken, bolognese, prosciutto tortellini, and the squid ink campanelle. I don't consider myself a huge seafood person but holy cow the blue crab on that campanelle was delicious. Also, I learned that they will validate/stamp your valet ticket! Marmo has such a huge fan in me, from the ambience to the staff to the delicious menu. 10/10 recommend

As someone who is not an Italian or fancy-dinner person, this place exceeded my expectations! We went for a birthday with a large group of 9 people with a reservation on a Saturday night at 8:30pm, and it was perfect for a classy yet lively get-together. Live music with a lovely soul singer, great song choices, and decorated so tastefully. We were seated in a corner booth situation. As other reviews mentioned, it was always busy, but it doesn't feel overcrowded due to how the restaurant is sectioned. It seemed like many people were celebrating something or having a nice date/double-date. Our server gave us plenty of time to browse the menu and always came back to put in more drink cocktail orders for us haha. Drinks: I would say the cocktails were okay, nothing extraordinary as we tried the sprezzatura, one with a cantaloupe slice (not sure the name), and a long island, but I'm not too mad bc it fit the vibe lol. Appetizers: - Calamari was so pleasant, it is sauteed not fried and had delicious golden raisins, capers, olives, and pine nuts to balance it all out with sweet, briney, tart, and nutty. Nicely done! - Meatballs were alright, could do without. Pastas: they have half and full sizes; I think half size is good for the average person. - Squid ink campanelle was soooo creamy from the uni, served with a generous amount of blue crab. Pricy ($28 for a half), but I can see why. - Wild boar lasagna was some of the best lasagna I ever had. Smoky, cheesy, tender, intense rich flavor from the boar. - Lobster fra diavolo was a flop to me, overpriced at $33 for a half serving and was not cohesive. The spicy tomato sauce truly was spicy from I believe dried red pepper flakes and overpowered the lobster. - Rigatoni alla vodka was good, deep nutty flavor from the parmigiano, didn't mind it. Desserts: We ordered almost every dessert (tiramisu, panna cota, lemon olive oil cake; they did not have the bomboloni), and tbh I would pass. The tiramisu was the only one that really stood out with the strong coffee and not too sweet. The rest were not that good. This place has some hits and misses on the menu but overall I really enjoyed the ambiance and the service was great even with our large group. It did take awhile for everyone to order and our food to come out, but it's expected for a larger group, and they did not make us feel rushed at all. We were sat at 8:30pm and left at closing. That, plus complimentary valet makes this place the perfect date night or celebration spot if you want to take your time enjoying quality food with a great classy, elegant, and youthful dining experience.
